FAQ

“Do you take commissions?”

I do take commissions. Shoot me an email < theckbert@gmail.com > to talk about getting a custom piece.

“What has influenced your style?”

My style inspirations come from manga, fantasy and comic art, children’s lit and classic illustration. Pretty Soldier Sailormoon, Magic Knight Rayearth, Heavy Metal and Spawn were what inspired me in my youth. Artists that I learned from and look up to include Masamune Shirow, Luis Royo, Todd McFarlane, Harry Furniss, Hablot Knight Browne,  E.H. Shepard, Michael Martchenko and Audrey Kawasaki.

The symbolism and meaning in the works have come from my experience and battles with my own mental health and from family members who suffer from a chronic diagnosis. The juxtaposition between the style and meaning help make the work more digestible. It can be very deep, meaningful and sad or it can be completely lighthearted and whimsical depending on the viewer.

“Where else can I find your work?”

I currently share my work on Instagram. I share shows on my website and on Facebook and I have an Etsy Store where items such as prints and leftover show pieces can be purchased.

“Can I have your work tattooed?”

Yes, you most certainly can! I find that one of the highest compliments. So long as it’s not a commissioned piece for someone else, it’s fine. All I ask is if you share it with your friends and family you kindly tag me as the source of the tattoo. If you would like to pay for the tattoo design you can send me a tip through Ko-Fi, share my work on social or purchase work through my Etsy Shop. All of these are acceptable ways to pay it forward, I know tattoos can be quite expensive.

“What tablet and program do you use for your digital work?”

I use a 12.9 iPad Pro. Programs include Procreate, Autodesk Sketchbook and Photoshop.
